our background
Elonics was founded in September 2003, initially as an IC design house specialising in the design of complex mixed-signal and RF devices. The company has now embarked on the development of a range of standard products, targeted at the emerging market for handheld devices that can support multiple wireless standards.
Modern portable consumer electronics increasingly demand multiple radio frequency connections to support cellular transceivers for voice communications and a new general of multi-media services from mobile TV to GPS. The market wants to have a universal single handheld device, capable of supporting multi wireless standards in a small, low power and cost effective package. Traditional receiver systems require multiple tuners resulting in increased cost, PCB board area and power consumption.
Elonics identified this emerging requirement and embarked on the development of a new generation of RF tuners that could solve these problems and support the needs to the world’s leading OEMs. Elonics unique value proposition is DigitalTuneTM, an innovative radio frequency architecture that enables OEMs to design multi-band receiver systems using a single monolithic CMOS IC.
Today, Elonics core strengths and intellectual property lie in creating state-of-the-art low cost, low power and compact RF silicon solutions using 130nm and 90nm CMOS processes. Elonics has recently successfully demonstrated its ability to create one of the world’s first multi-band RF tuners in CMOS for multi-mode broadcast systems. The E4000 uses a state-of-the-art zero-IF architecture and is currently being evaluated by major customers around the world.
Elonics custom silicon developments extend across a wide variety of application areas including wireless networking (UWB), wired 1G and 10G Ethernet (802.3), optical Ethernet (10G – LRM), audio and power management. These projects have included feasibility studies, product definition, architecture development, design, evaluation and now silicon supply for full turnkey solutions.
Elonics is passionate about innovation and commercial success. To fulfill this, we are committed to aligning our engineering excellence to customer’s needs. The breadth and depth of Elonics engineering and support teams is reflected in its world class product offerings and design-in assistance.
Elonics is a small but fast growing company based in Livingston, Scotland. It is a privately owned company and has recently been successful in raising £2M ($4M) Series A funding in February 2008.
